This study aims to find an increase in the quality of learning (in terms of activity and student achievement) with Type Jigsaw Cooperative Learning Model in social studies in fifth grade elementary school Ngangkrik Sleman Yogyakarta.
This study is an action research conducted by the design cycle from Kemmis and Taggart (1990) through the four stages, namely (1) planning, (2) the implementation of the action, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. Data collected through observation, tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was performed using quantitative descriptive technique. To give meaning to the success of the action then use relative criteria, ie, the act is declared successful if students act more actively in the learning process and at least 80% of students achieving absorption over 70% of the learning objectives. This study was conducted over two rounds (cycles), each cycle two meetings.
The analysis showed that the application of Type Jigsaw cooperative learning model succeeded in realizing the research goals. Its success is declared on the basis of the conclusion that cooperative learning model type jigsaw impact on (1) increasing student involvement in the learning process katif shown the courage to express opinions, take Jawan on duty within the group, contributing and value the opinions in group discussions, (2) increase student achievement, namely 97.3% of students achieved absorption above 70%, which means that the acquisition has exceeded the minimum target set that is at least 80% of the number of students achieving absorption above 70%.
